my bento - 11.28.2006

hard boiled egg, beef rolls, simmered kabocha, cherry tomato, vegetable fried rice w/ nori flakes, doriyaki for dessert

i got some frozen kabocha and i don’t like it as much as i like the fresh stuff. the texture is too mushy :( maybe it got defrosted and refrozen. last time i made kabocha i made so much i couldn’t finish it all, so i thought this would be a good work around but i was MISTAKEN.

a very colorful bento featuring 2 octopi and a crab

his bento

his bento - 11.20.2006

rice w/ furikake; octopi and crab hot dogs; sweet simmered shiitake; stir fried green beans w/ soy sauce; tamagoyaki w/ smoked cheese; strawberry w/ sugar

strawberries during the off season aren’t nearly as sweet as the ones in the summertime. to make them sweeter, i sprinkle them with a little bit of sugar and lemon juice. the sugar brings out the strawberry’s juice, making it juicier and more dessert like. it gets SO JUICY i have to put it in it’s own little cup haha.

edit: added a pic of my bento from that day

my bento - 11.18.2006

tofu and frozen mixed vegetables; crab hot dog; hard boiled egg; cherry tomato; rice w/ furikake

my bento - 10.26.2006

jaipur vegetable curry (instant pouch from trader joe’s); basmati rice; tempura shrimp; garlic naan; honey greek yogurt

yet another trader joe’s instant fabulous bento!  they have this awesome tandoori garlic naan that is so tasty!  as well i am addicted to the curry pouches.  the curry pouches are totally constituted, you just open them and heat them up.  the shrimp tempura comes already made, it’s frozen, you just warm it up in the oven.  very tasty.
